Structured Education and Training is now referred to as Structured Learning and Development - the change is to reflect that is it designed to encourage members to learn and develop using a range of development opportunity and that it is more than just attendance at training courses.
The Institution's Structured Learning and Development Scheme (SLD) is designed to assist new graduates to acquire the practical skills required to develop a career within the wastes management industry.
It is a flexible programme of professional training intended to compliment the graduate's academic studies and help newly qualified graduates develop judgement, critical abilities and apply academic principles to their base education.
It provides a framework for them on which to build their vocational training and personal development during the early years of their career, and prepare them for their professional review, and admission to the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management as a Full Member and a Chartered Waste Manager.
It is expected that all Graduate Members admitted to the Institution should take part in this programme.
NEW - CIWM Members qualify for 10% discount of Open University CPD Modules. These modules are on a range of business and management topics and could be used as part of the SLD requirements if applicable for the individual. Click Here for more details.
